My photographic and written work have appeared in publications around the globe, including the Guardian, the New York Times, the Times and Businessweek.

On this page of my website you can find some samples of published work.

Most of the photographic work I undertake these days is shot within Japan, where I have lived for over 15 years. Some of the areas I have covered include:

  • The aftermath of the March 11 earthquake and tsunamis that struck northeastern Japan
  • The so-called evacuation zone around the damaged No. 1 nuclear power plant in Fukushima
  • Social issues such as suicide and day labor
  • Cultural themes such as geisha, Shinto rituals such as firewalking ceremonies

I am represented in Japan by a number of agencies, including Bloomberg and AFLO and also stock photos with a number of photo agencies and libraries such as Alamy, Fotolibra, News Pictures and Pixplanete
