Shattered homes and other debris that was swept inland by the tsunami that followed the March 11 magnitude 8.8 quake are all that remain of the coastal area of Minami Sanriku Town, Miyagi Prefecture, Japan on 13 March, 2011. Some 10,000 people out of the town's population of  17,666 are reported as missing  following the 10-meter-high wave that struck the village.. Photographer: Robert Gilhooly
