A fisherman tows away pilot whales, which are members of the dolphin family, that have been tied by rope to the front  of his boat at "killer cove" in Taiji, Japan on 10 September  2009. Sept. 10 marked the first dolphin cull of the season, which was conducted in a cove shielded by steep cliffs covered by dense undergrowth, the upper reaches of which are patrolled by local fisheries officials charged with detecting and distracting journalists and marine conservation activists alike.
