An unidentified elderly man sleeps in his room at a former hotel specially refurbished for the elderly homeless community in the Kamagasaki district of Osaka, Japan. As Japan's population rapidly grays, so too does its homeless community, of which those aged 65 and over are eligible for special governmental benefits that allows them to stay in relatively more comfortable accommodation than their under-65 counterparts. In the central Osaka district of Kamagasaki such accommodation costs around 42,000 yen a month and provides lodgers with communal bath and TV facilities and a 7 sq.-meter room -- barely big enough to fit a single bed and refrigerator.
